Building a Pick&Place Machine

This is the starting point of my build documentation.

Some general remarks are in order:

  1. Most of this is documented after the fact, when a certain “maturity” of the solution is reached. While a “life” blog is more authentic, I wanted to spare the reader much of the drama of mistakes, mishaps and misdirection, long blackouts due to missing spare time and … yes, possibly a project that never gets finished.
  2. Having said that, I will openly document important “fails” as such, for others not to step into the same poodoo.
  3. I’m a professional, university trained technical software engineer. However all knowledge in electronics, machine control, mechanics (etc.) is acquired as a enthusiast hobbyist.
  4. I’m standing on the shoulders of giants here. Even if it is not permanently mentioned, this is always implied with great thankfulness. Hoping this blog will be helpful to others.
  5. I have no commercial association with any of the companies or products mentioned here. If I praise a product, it’s simply because I like it.
  6. Please always bear in mind that English is not my native language. If you find texts incomprehensible or otherwise lacking, please speak up.
  7. Some of this may be associated with electrical, fire and other safety hazards. Please be safe (and respect your local law).
  8. All information provided here comes without any warranty or other legal promise whatsoever.
